Arraial d'Ajuda is the middle ground of the far south: it has the town infrastructure Caraíva lacks and the pace Porto Seguro lost. Big supermarket, pharmacy, school, doctor, bank. For a long stay, it is the village that takes care of daily life without any effort.
Rua do Mucugê is where the evenings happen. The beaches are just below: Mucugê, Pitinga, Taípe, each with its own character, and Pitinga's red cliffs are among the most beautiful on the Bahian coast.
It is also the handiest base for seeing the rest of the region: the roads to Trancoso, Espelho and Caraíva all start in Arraial.
Getting there. Fifteen minutes from Porto Seguro by ferry, then ten more by car. It is the easiest village to reach.
